Technical Bulletin No. 2 – Pre-drilling

Pre-fitted brickmould Pre-drilled hole for fasteners
The employment of tropical hardwood such as mahogany or merbau with its high content of pigments, and in the case of merbau, of minerals, challenges the manufacturer to prevent the bleeding of such elements, staining the adjacent finished surfaces, such as stucco. The on-site drilling, boring or cutting or the installation of an un-finished product or component on a project increases the occurrence of such bleeding.
We at Luxbaum Windows + Doors have implemented the following procedures to avoid the bleeding:
- All penetrations for fasteners, all mortises for hardware, borings are pre-drilled.
- All penetrations are primed and receive the number of finish coatings specified.
- All sills, brickmould, panels, jamb extensions, enclosures are pre-cut, pre-fitted and coped.
- All components are primed and receive the number of finish coatings specified.
Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
