Merbau is a unique lumber whose characteristics display a natural beauty. It is revered for its attractive growth ring figure and deep color.
Merbau contains high concentrations of minerals and silica. These characteristics make the wood an ideal choice for the fabrication of exterior components such as windows, doors, shutters, columns, trellises, beams, outriggers, gazebos and porticos. They also make merbau highly resistant to termites and other beetles.
Merbau’s hardness and fiber structure enables a level of outstanding finishing. This is accomplished through repeated hand-sanding and a finishing technique reminiscent of a traditional French Lacquer finish.
The wood's physical characteristics exceed those of Mahogany by sixty percent.
These same outstanding physical attributes make merbau extremely difficult to mill. Like most things in life, producing true quality does not come easily, and we are happy to make the extra investment in order to deliver such a durably beautiful product.
